HOW MARGIN WILL BE CALCULATED

Margin will be calculated based upon the largest side of a hedged position (also known as the “longest leg”). This will impact maximum trade sizes and how close your account is to triggering a margin closeout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this product support Expert Advisors (EAs) that require hedging?

Yes. As long as you have a MT4 enabled v20 Hedging account you will be able to use these EAs.

Can I create a v20 Hedging Practice account?

v20 Hedging Practice accounts are not currently available.

What happens when I close an entire hedged position at once?

This will close all long and short trades in that position. Note that if you only want to close one side of a hedged position you will need to close each trade on that side one by one.

How do I determine my long vs. short exposure in a hedged position without having to go through all of my trades?

Additional fields in the Positions section of your trading platform are available to demonstrate how many units are open long vs. short, the average long and short open price, and the current bid/long price and ask/short price.

Can a fully hedged position contribute to a margin closeout?

Yes. Since the largest side of a hedged position will count as Margin Used, one side of your fully hedged position will still impact how close your account is to triggering a margin closeout.

Can I disable v20 Hedging on my account?

No. If you would no longer like to open hedged trades please use a different sub-account that is not enabled for v20 Hedging. If needed, you can create a new sub-account for this purpose, just be sure to leave the v20 Hedging option unselected.

Can I partially close a trade using my v20 hedging account?

Yes, but only through the OANDA MT4 platform. The OANDA Desktop and Mobile platforms do not currently support the ability to partially close a trade on a v20 hedging account.

Will profits and losses on an existing position become realized when I open a new, hedged trade in the opposite direction?

No. Profits and losses in hedged positions will remain Unrealized until those positions are closed, at which point all profits and losses are realized.

What are the deposit options to fund my OANDA account?

Our deposit options vary based on the OANDA division with which you hold your account. Please check the relevant Deposit Funds with OANDA section for more details.

What are OANDA’s margin rules?

The OANDA platform supports margin trading, which means you can enter into positions larger than your account balance. OANDA’s margin rules vary based on the regulatory requirements applicable to the OANDA division with which you hold your account. Please select the applicable OANDA division to learn more details about OANDA Margin Rules.

Where do I find OANDA’s registration forms, legal and trading documentation?

OANDA’s registration forms, legal and trading documentation vary based on the OANDA division with which you hold your account. Please check the relevant Legal & Regulatory Documentation section for more details.
