Market reaction to the US NFP report

Today's labour market data caused high volatility in the market. The EUR/USD exchange rate has risen above the 1.07 level and is at its highest since 20 September. The situation is similar on the 'cable' chart, although here the increases are much bigger. The GBP/USD pair rallied more than 160 pips today to reach the level of 1.2375. USD/JPY is trading at 149.30.

Gold managed to reach the USD 2000 ceiling, after which the price fell towards 1992 USD/oz. Wall Street indices have had a sensational week. The losses incurred during the October sell-off have been largely recovered. A significant reaction can also be seen in the debt market. Yields on 2-year US bonds fell to 4.85 - the last time such a level was seen on the first day of September.
