A step-by-step guide for beginners on how to identify and fix common MT4 login errors when using OANDA’s trading platform.
Login issues with MT4: how to fix them
If you are unable to log in to OANDA’s MT4 platform, please check the following points to troubleshoot the issue.
How to check if you are logged in
First, make sure that your PC has a stable internet connection.
For example, try opening other websites to ensure your network works correctly.
Next, look at the bottom-right corner of the MT4 interface.
This area indicates your login status.
If messages such as “No connection”, “Invalid account”, or “Common error” appear in this corner, it indicates that you are not logged in correctly.
If this is the first time you’ve logged into MT4 with your account and a message like this appears—while your internet connection is working correctly—it is highly likely that you’ve entered the wrong login credentials.
What to do if you are logged out
Click “File” in the top-left menu bar, then select “Login to Trading Account” to open the login window.
If the login details entered are correct, the message in the bottom-right corner will change to numerical data, confirming that you are now logged in.
Checking your login credentials
Your login credentials comprise two important pieces of information: your **Login ID** and **Password**.
Login ID
You can find your Login ID by logging into the live or demo portal after opening your MT4 account.
After logging in to “My Page”, your MT4 Login ID is listed under “Meta Trader 4 sub-account” within the “Sub-account list” section.
Password
The password is the one you created when setting up your MT4 account.
If you need to reset your password, log in to “My Page” and select “Change MT4 password” from the “Account Management” section in the left-hand menu.
