Smart answers to common question

How long will I stay in the premium/premium plus tiers?

You’ll remain in the account tier for the calendar quarter in which you qualify and next calendar quarter, for as long as you continue to meet the trading volume requirements. This means that if you continue to meet the trading volume requirement in the above table, your account benefits will continue automatically.

What happens if I do not fulfil the trading requirements to maintain the account status?

If you drop below the qualifying trading volume requirement, you will be moved to a lower package in the subsequent calendar quarter. We recognise that as a high-value client, you may trade in various markets and may not meet the volume requirements indicated in the table above. For this reason, we occasionally reward clients with premium client status tailored to your trading preferences.

When do 3 months start counting (I.e. US$30 million within a 3-month period?)

Volumes start counting on the first day of the first month of each calendar quarter (1st January, 1st April, 1st July, 1st October).

How do I qualify for volume-based rebates?

Volume-based rebates are available to clients who trade in high volumes. If you meet our monthly notional trade volume, you will qualify for monthly rebates. At the end of each calendar month, your total rebate earned based on your account package will be calculated and credited on approximately the 10th business day of the following month.

How can I know my trade volume?

Your account manager or relationship manager can help you with this.

Are there any charges for premium packages?

There are no fees or charges to be a premium client with us. We simply require that you regularly trade in the volume outlined in the table above.

Do I have to maintain a minimum account balance?

You don’t need to have a minimum balance to open or maintain an OANDA account. However, you will need funds in your account to open positions.

How safe is my money with OANDA?

As a Capital Markets Services licence holder, licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, OANDA is required to set up a segregated trust account at a major bank that is registered and licensed in Singapore. Currently all deposits made to OANDA are held in trust for you with the Standard Chartered Bank and DBS bank.
