Using market and limit orders to close positions in MT4
When closing an open position with a market order in the MT4 interface, first ensure that One-Click Trading is enabled.
You can also close a position using One-Click Trading.
Partial closures are not available in this mode.
Activating One-Click trading
You can check to see if One-Click Trading is enabled by following these steps:
- Go to "Tools" → "Options" → select the "Trade" tab.
- Make sure the "One Click Trading" box is ticked.
How to close an open position
- In the "Terminal" window at the bottom of the screen, select the open position you wish to close.
- Right-click on the selected position and choose "Close position".
- The "Order" window will open. Confirm the details, then click "Close by Market" to close the position using a market order.
Partial closures are possible when using a market order.
To perform a partial close, adjust the volume in the "Order" window and then click "Close by Market".
If you wish to modify an open position:
- Select the relevant position.
- Right-click and choose "Modify or Delete position".
- In the "Order" window, you can set both stop-loss and take-profit levels.
