How to trade commodities with OANDA
With OANDA, you can access commodity trading as financial derivatives (CFDs). This allows you to take a position on price movements without owning the underlying asset. You can trade commodity CFDs in two directions: 'buy' (go long) if you expect prices to rise, or 'sell' (go short) if you expect them to fall. When you’re commodity trading, it’s important to know which commodity you want to target and vital to research the external factors – such as geopolitical events or supply chain shifts – that influence commodity volatility.
Award-winning* trading platform
Take a position on our full range of commodities CFDs instruments using our intuitive OANDA platform and apps for mobile and tablet devices.
Pricing and liquidity providers
Our pricing engine aggregates live prices, in real time, from our liquidity providers and calculates a mid-point. A custom-built pricing algorithm automatically calculates the spread symmetrically around the mid-point (the average between the buy and sell price), for each tradable instrument on our trading platform. This mid-point fluctuates throughout the day as market prices change.

What is commodities trading?
A commodity is any physical good that can be bought or sold on the commodities market. Commodities work in a similar way to other financial markets. The exchange value of commodities is often affected by changes in supply and demand of the goods being traded. Commodity trading can happen in the physical market or as a derivative.
