How to open an account

Step 1: Apply for an account

To apply, you must be over 18 years old. We only ask questions that are relevant to your application and for regulatory purposes. Be prepared to upload proof of identity and address.

Step 2: Verify your identity and address

We may ask you to send some documentation to verify your identity and residency status. You can scan the below documents or use your smartphone to take a picture of the documents and submit them through our secure portal.

Proof of identity

To verify your identity, you will need to send either one of the following documents bearing a photograph of you:

National identity card
Passport
Driver’s licence

The document must meet the following criteria:

Is not expired
Should show your name, unique identification number, date of birth and nationality
Is a government issued photo ID

Proof of address

To confirm your address, we need either one of the following documents as proof of address:

Bank, credit card or insurance statement
Utility bill, telephone bill
A government issued document

In certain cases, we may ask for more than one document as proof of address.

The document must meet the following criteria:

The entire document is shown
It has not been altered
It includes your full name
The document should be dated within the last three months

Step 3: Fund and trade

To deposit funds, log in to manage funds using your OANDA account details and click on the ‘deposit’ button. You can fund your trading account using a number of methods, including BPay, debit and credit cards, and bank wire transfer. There is no minimum deposit amount.
