Adding the Currency Converter to Multi-Language Websites

The OANDA Currency Converter for Publishers tool provides the flexibility required to support many multi-languages websites.

Pages with static language settings:

To embed the Currency Converter widget onto pages with static translations, simply create a new widget for each language and embed the code into the appropriate page. You can also copy existing widgets on the Manage My Currency Converter Widgets page, adapt the language setting on the Languages & Colors tab and then embed the code onto the appropriate page on your website.

Pages with dynamic language settings:

To embed the Currency Converter widget into pages with dynamic language settings, create a widget using the customization tool and paste the code into your website. You will need to amend the “lang” parameter within the widget code (see circle in the example code below).

To allow dynamic language selection, replace the “lang=xxx” in the code provided by the widget customization tool with “lang=[page language]”, where [page language] represents the language parameter from the page onto which you are embedding the widget. [Page language] must contain a language ISO code that is supported by the OANDA Currency Converter for Publishers.

For a complete list of languages and ISO codes supported by the Currency Converter for Publishers, please refer to the Languages pull-down in the Languages & Colors tab in the customization tool.

Note: You can only parameterize the language, and not other features (such as currency pull-downs, colors, or layout). Any changes to other parts of the code may cause the embedded widget to fail. To create a different look and feel, either:

• To make global changes to the widget, edit the widget using the customization tool
• To offer another distinct type of widget for your site, create a new widget using the customization tool and paste its code into the appropriate page.
